Zander Lehmann Named Jewish Sports Review All-American
St. Louis, Mo., July 6, 2009 – Washington University senior right fielder Zander Lehmann has been selected to the Jewish Sports Review College Baseball NCAA Division II/III/NAIA All-America First-Team, as announced by the publication.
The recognition from the Jewish Sports Review is the latest in a growing list of 2009 accolades for the Washington University slugger, who was also selected as an American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) first-team All-Central Region honoree in addition to being named an ESPN the Magazine first-team Academic All-American for the first time in his career.
In 2009, Lehmann put together one of the best all-around statistical seasons in school history and cemented himself as one of the top offensive players to ever don a Washington University uniform. He led Washington U. with a .423 batting average, and also ranked first in home runs (seven), RBI (30), runs scored (47) and slugging percentage (.704).
Historically, Lehmann ranks in the top-10 in school history in nearly all major offensive statistical categories. He is third in school history in hits (180), fifth in batting average (.373) fifth in runs scored (139) and eighth in home runs (15). Lehmann was named to the 2009 University Athletic Association (UAA) All-Tournament Team, and also earned first-team all-UAA honors. He led the conference in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, runs scored and home runs.
Washington U. completed its season with a 25-12 overall record, and qualified for the NCAA Division III Tournament for the seventh time in school history, and the fourth time over the past five seasons. |
