Rogoff Receives NCBWA Player of the Week Honorable Mention

St. Louis, Mo., May 1, 2008 – Sophomore Jeremy Rogoff of the Washington University baseball team earned National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Player of the Week honorable mention recognition, as announced by the association on Thursday.

Rogoff, the first University Athletic Association (UAA) or Washington University baseball player to be recognized by the NCBWA Player of the Week program this season, earns the honor after leading the Bears to a 12-1, seven-inning victory over Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, on Saturday, April 26. He was also tabbed as the UAA baseball Pitcher of the Week on April 29.

Against the Spartans, Rogoff started on the hill and lasted six innings, where he allowed just four hits, zero runs, and struck out a career-high 14 batters. With the win, he improved to 3-2 this season, and lowered his team-leading earned run average to 3.38. In his last two starts, Rogoff has picked up two victories while pitching 13.0 innings, allowing four earned runs and compiling 24 strikeouts.

Washington U. (14-11) returns to action on Thursday, May 1, when it will face Maryville University in St. Louis, Mo. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
