After going 15 years between NCAA Tournament appearances, the Washington University men's tennis team has now made seven-straight showings in the postseason following NCAA berths in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006.

Fifth-year head coach Roger Follmer, the 2006 Wilson/ITA National Division III Coach of the Year, did not waste any time establishing himself both regionally and nationally in the college tennis world. Follmer has mentored nine All-Americans to date --- Ari Rosenthal (2003 (D), 2004 (S), 2005 (D), 2006 (D)), Brian Alvo (2002 (S), 2004 (S)), Charliet Cutler (2006 (D) and Neil Kenner (2003 (S,D).

Furthermore, the team was invited to the Division III NCAA Indoor National Tennis Championships in February of 2003 and 2004 with the top-8 teams in the country. His team also qualified for the NCAA Quarterfinals in 2003 and 2004. In addition, Kenner and Rosenthal advanced to the FInal Four of the doubles championship in 2003, which is the furthest any singles or doubles participant from WU has ever advanced in the NCAA Championships.

Follmer's players have also been getting the job done in the classroom. For the 2004-05 school year, the Bears boasted a 3.57 team grade-point average to earn 2005 ITA All-Academic Team honors.

Since the inception of the University Athletic Association (UAA) in 1988, Washington has placed second in the conference 12 times, including eight of the last nine seasons.

The Bears also have a proud tradition that dates back over 50 years. Several Washington University players made their mark on the national scene both in intercollegiate play and in amateur competition. As a team, Washington U. qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 1963, 1964 and 1965.
