St. Louis, Mo., May 13, 2019 – Washington University in St. Louis had three student-athletes named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week for their respective sports, as announced by the Association Monday.
Junior Bernardo Neves of the No. 7-ranked men's tennis team, senior Heidi Nassos of the No. 5 women's outdoor track and field team and junior Jack Sebok of the No. 8 men's outdoor track and field team each earned the honor.
Neves posted a 4-0 record to help lead WashU to the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals for the 13th-straight year. He teamed with senior Konrad Kozlowski for a pair of dominant wins at No. 1 doubles, and then dropped just four games in two victories at No. 2 singles.
Nassos claimed two event titles at the Dr. Keeler Invitational posting top-three marks in Division III in the process. She won the pole vault Thursday with a personal-best height of 3.97m, becoming just the second Bear in program history to clear 13 feet. Nassos followed that up with another personal-best mark Friday when she leapt a distance of 12.05m in the triple jump. The pole vault height ranks second in NCAA Division III and the triple jump distance ranks third.
Sebok placed fourth overall at the Dr. Keeler Invitational in the 3,000m steeplechase with a personal-best time of 9:03.32. His time ranks fifth overall in Division III.
