St. Louis, Mo., March 18, 2019 – Washington University in St. Louis had a pair of student-athletes named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week for their respective sports, as announced by the Association Monday.
Sophomore Ethan Hillis of the No. 9-ranked men's tennis team and sophomore pitcher Ryan Loutos of the baseball team each earned the honor.
Hillis posted a 3-2 record as the Bears won three of four matches on Spring Break. He had pair of straight-set ranked singles victories over the No. 7 and No. 18 players in NCAA Division III, and also went 1-1 with sophomore Benjamin van der Sman at No. 2 singles. He has a 25-6 overall record in his first season at WashU.
Loutos tossed a three-hit complete-game shutout and matched a career-best with 13 strikeouts in a 4-0 win over No. 13 Concordia (Texas) Saturday in @ Kissimmee, Fla.The performance was Loutos' longest of the season. He has a 1-0 record with a 1.04 earned run average with 26 strikeouts in 17 1/3 innings pitched.
