WashU Has Three Named UAA Athlete of the Week

St. Louis, Mo., Feb. 25, 2019 – Washington University in St. Louis had three student-athletes named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week for their respective sports, as announced by the Association Monday. 

Sophomore guard Jack Nolan of the men's basketball team, freshman Kevin Hao of the No. 6-ranked men's swimming and diving team and junior outfielder John Ostrander of the baseball team each earned the honor.

Nolan scored 17 of his career-high 26 points in the second half to lift WashU past the University of Chicago Saturday in the season finale for both teams. The victory for WashU secured a second-place finish in the UAA. Nolan, who was 11-of-18 from the field, also tied his career-high with six assists and five steals.

Hao swam to an NCAA Division III B cut over the weekend while helping the Bears claim first at the Midwest Invitational. He placed first in the 200-breaststroke with a time of 2:02.22. The WashU men took first at the Midwest Invitational which featured teams from across all NCAA Divisions.

Ostrander was the top bat in the Bears explosive offense this weekend producing five hits in 10 at bats including three extra base hits, two triples and one double while knocking in a team-leading five runs. WashU split a pair of games in Conway, Arkansas to begin the season while scoring 22 runs and producing 30 hits.
