St. Louis, Mo., Feb. 11, 2019 – Senior Heidi Nassos of the No. 1-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's indoor track & field team was selected as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference office.
Nassos earned the honor for the first time this season after garnering the honor three times during last year's indoor season. She earned the weekly honor after helping the Bears to victory at the Midwest Elite Invite Saturday in Whitewater, Wis. which featured six teams in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Top-25 index rankings. Nassos took first in the pole vault with a height of 3.83m which nearly matched her season-best mark of 3.85m that ranks third in NCAA Division III.
The Bears have top-five USTFCCCA rankings in five event squads which compares a teams top competitors from various events. Nassos has contributed to two of those top-five rankings as WashU's triple jump leads the country and pole vault is ranked third.
