St. Louis, Mo., Nov. 5, 2018 – Washington University in St. Louis had three student-athletes recognized as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week, as announced Monday by the Association.
Freshman Michaela Jones of the No. 2-ranked women's cross-country team, sophomore Joe Stover of the No. 2 men's cross-country team and sophomore Kristen Reikersdorfer of the No. 1 women's soccer team each earned the honor.
Jones was the first of six straight Bears to cross the finish line during the North Central College Red & White meet 3-mile race Thursday, posting a winning time of 17:48.3. She completed the course with a 5:56 per mile pace to help WashU post a perfect score.
Stover was the first of eight consecutive Bears to cross the finish line during the North Central College Red & White meet 3-mile race, posting a winning time of 14:45.4. He averaged 4:55 per mile while taking first by nearly seven seconds.
Reikersdorfer recorded two team saves in the Bears' 2-0 victory over No. 20 Chicago Saturday at home. In the 53rd minute, Chicago had a golden opportunity off a corner kick, but Reikersdorfer made a team save to keep it a one-goal game. Reikersdorfer came up huge again in the 79th minute after she cleared a header off the line.
