St. Louis, Mo., Sept. 18, 2017 — Washington University in St. Louis had four student-athletes honored as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week, as announced by the Association.
Freshman Emma Greenfield and sophomore Jesse Rubin of the No. 1-ranked women's soccer team, junior Konrad Kozlowski of the men's tennis team and senior David O'Gara of the No. 13 men's cross country team each earned the honor.
Greenfield posted a pair of shutouts as No. 1 WashU remained undefeated with two victories last weekend in Whitewater, Wis. She made a career-high five saves in a 2-0 win over Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday, and then recorded one save in a 1-0 victory at No. 8 Wisconsin-Whitewater on Sunday. Greenfield is first in the University Athletic Association (UAA) and 15th in NCAA Division III in goals against average (0.217).
Rubin scored a pair of game-winning goals for the Bears last weekend. She netted the game-winner in a 2-0 win over Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday, and then posted the lone goal in the 81st minute in a 1-0 victory at No. 8 Wisconsin-Whitewater on Sunday. Rubin is tops in the conference and fifth in NCAA Division III in game-winning goals (3).
Kozlowski teamed with senior Jason Haugen to advance to the championship match of Flight "A" Doubles at the Purdue Fall Invitational. The duo marched through the bracket with three victories, including a pair of wins over Division I teams from South Dakota and Wisconsin-Green Bay. They suffered a 7-6 defeat in the championship match to a team from Cleveland State. Kozlowski also advanced to the semifinals in singles of Flight "E".
O'Gara placed first overall at the Gil Dodds Invitational ahead of 180 competitors with a time of 25:06.0. He helped lead the Bears to a first-place finish as a team in a field of 14 teams for the third-straight year.
