Steve Collins Selected as WUSTL Assistant Facilities Manager
St. Louis, Mo., Aug. 19, 2014 – Washington University in St. Louis Director of Athletics Josh Whitman has announced the hiring of Steve Collins as the assistant facilities manager. Collins will officially begin his duties Sept. 2.
Collins arrives on the Danforth Campus after working as the facility operations coordinator at Williams Arena and the Sports Pavilion and TCF Bank Stadium at the University of Minnesota since April 2013. At the Williams Arena and Sports Pavilion, he coordinated between numerous construction and trade entities during a heavy construction period. While at TCF Bank Stadium, Collins was the direct supervisor of the daily operations staff, and facilitated the operation for 300 special events held at the stadium, including a 6,000-participant 5K race.
"We are very pleased that Steve will be joining us," said WUSTL Director of Facilities Andrew Koch. "The experience he has gained overseeing student staff and event operations at the University of Minnesota and the Sprint Center will be a great asset to Washington University in St. Louis athletics."
Beginning in March 2012, Collins spent a year working as a data manager at Riverstone Goods in Lenexa, Kan. In September of that year he also began a six-month stint as a guest services representative at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo., before taking the job at Minnesota.
Collins graduated with a bachelor's degree in recreation, sport and park administration from Missouri State University in December 2011. As a capstone experience for his degree, Collins served as the athletic facilities intern at Missouri Western State University.
