St. Louis, Mo., July 24, 2014 – Washington University in St. Louis finished fourth in the 2013-14 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Division III standings, as announced by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). The fourth-place finish is tied for the sixth-highest in school history and marks the Bears' eighth consecutive top-five finish.
Washington U. had 17 of 19 teams compete in NCAA Tournament action, and recorded seven top-10 finishes nationally. WUSTL also won 10 University Athletic Association (UAA) titles and posted a combined sports record of 212-64-4 (.764).
The men's cross country team had the highest national finish in the 2013-14 season, placing fourth in its third straight top-five finish. The Bears also had top-10 finishes by women's soccer (fifth), men's tennis (fifth), women's tennis (fifth), women's outdoor track & field (sixth), women's golf (seventh) and women's swimming & diving (eighth).
Washington U. also finished 13th in men's swimming & diving, 17th in football, men's basketball, women's basketball and volleyball, 18th in men's outdoor track & field, 20th in women's indoor track & field, 21st in women's cross country, 33rd in softball and 58th in men's indoor track & field.
