I started a little slow in singles today, but found my timing in the second match and my game really came together,” said Putterman, who improved his career record to 161-69 with the three wins. “Doubles was a match up and downs. Ross played some great points and had some things go our way at the end and was a fun match to pull out.”</p><p>Putterman defeated Andrew Guzick of Vassar College in the round of 32 (7-6, 6-7, 6-4) and No. 22 ranked Kevin Caulfield of Haverford College in the round of 16 (6-1, 6-0) to advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals in singles for the second-straight year. He improved his 2012-13 singles record to 28-7 and is the highest seed remaining.<img src="/SiteCollectionImages/Tennis-Mens/RossPuttermanPrimary3.jpg" alt="" align=right height=245 width=173><br>	<br>Putterman, the No. 2 seed in the 32-man singles draw, takes on Patrick Lipscomb of the University of Redlands in the quarterfinals Friday at 10 a.m. (ET). With a win, he will play again at 2:30 p.m. (ET) in the NCAA semifinals against the winner of No. 6 seed Robert Kjelberg of North Carolina Wesleyan University or Michael Razumovsky of Kenyon College.<br>	<br>Putterman teamed with sophomore <strong>Ross Putterman</strong> for a 6-3, 0-6, 7-6 victory over Andrew La Cava and Colton Malesovas of Whitman College in a match that finished just before midnight. With the win, the Putterman’s improved its overall record to 20-8 and its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinals. The duo takes on Michael Holt and Taylor Shamshiri of Washington and Lee University Friday at 4:30 p.m. (ET).</p></div>

<div><b>Body Copy:</b> <p><strong>Kalamazoo, Mich., May 20, 2013 </strong>– The No. 10 ranked Washington University in St. Louis men’s tennis team advanced to its sixth-straight NCAA Division III Final Four with a 5-1 win over No. 2 Kenyon College Monday afternoon at Stowe Stadium in Kalamazoo, Mich.</p><p>“We went up 2-1 after doubles play, and kept the momentum going, even during the lightning delay,” said 12th-year head coach <strong>Roger Follme</strong>r. “Since the spring break trip to Hawaii, the seniors have taken ownership of this team. The torch has been passed from each of our seniors the past six years. Its up to the seniors to lead this team, and they are doing a great job this year. We have built a nice legacy.”</p><p>The win for Washington U. was its 17th-straight, the second-longest winning streak in school history. Kenyon had its 16-match winning streak snapped and ends the season with a 25-4 record.</p><p>Washington University (20-5) will face No. 6 Williams College in the national semifinals Tuesday, May 21, at 4 p.m. (ET). Williams defeated No. 8 Trinity 5-1 in the quarterfinals Monday. <div><b>Body Copy:</b> <p><a target="_blank" href="http://bearsports.wustl.edu/Sports/TrackField/Documents/NCAAOutdoor-Day1.pdf">THURSDAY RESULTS</a></p><p><strong>La Crosse, Wis., May 23, 2013 –</strong> Junior <strong>Anna Etherington</strong> and senior <strong>Anne Diaz-Arrastia</strong> each captured All-America honors for the Washington University in St. Louis women’s track &amp; field team on the opening day of the 2013 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track &amp; Field Championships Thursday at University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.</p><p>The Washington University women scored 11 points and sit in third place in the team standings after the first day of the competition. Ramapo College leads the women’s team standings with 27 points, while University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is second with 16.</p><p>Etherington earned the fourth All-America honors of her career with a runner-up finish in the women’s pole vault. She broke her own school record in the event with a clearance of 4.05 meters on her first attempt at the height. Etherington’s previous record was 4.02m set in the first meet of the outdoor season. She placed fourth in the event at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships, and also had fourth-place finishes at the 2012 and 2013 Indoor Championships.</p><p><img src="/SiteCollectionImages/Track-Field/13Diaz2-primary.jpg" alt="" align=right height=245 width=173>Diaz-Arrastia also broke her own school record in the women’s long jump, finishing sixth with a mark of 5.78m. The jump was two centimeters better than her previous record set two weeks ago. It marks Diaz-Arrastia’s first outdoor All-America honors and third overall after placing fourth in the pentathlon and sixth in the triple jump at the 2013 NCAA Indoor Championships.</p><p>Junior <strong>Kevin Sparks</strong> just missed earning All-America honors for the Washington U. men in the 10,000. He improved his career-best time to 30:16.94 to finish ninth, seven seconds behind the eighth-place finisher. Sparks’ time ranks second in school history in the event and was nearly two seconds better than his previous best.<br> <br>Sophomore <strong>Claire Simons</strong> and junior <strong>Michael Ellenberger</strong> also competed Thursday in the women’s pole vault and men’s 10,000, respectively. A pair of Washington U. women will be in action Friday. Junior <strong>Jasmine Williams</strong> competes in the high jump at 2:15 p.m., while freshman <strong>Emily Warner</strong> races in the prelims of the 400 at 5:50 p.m.<br> </p></div>

<div><b>Body Copy:</b> <p><a target="_blank" href="http://file:///Users/zutavernkelcey/Desktop/Sports Information/Track &amp; Field/2013/Results/Keeler5-10.htm">RESULTS</a></p><p><strong>Naperville, Ill., May 11, 2013 –</strong> Senior <strong>Anne Diaz-Arrastia</strong> broke the school record in the women’s long jump and junior <strong>Michael Ellenberger</strong> ran the third-fastest time in school history in the men’s 10,000 to highlight the performances by the Washington University in St. Louis track &amp; field teams at the Dr. Keeler Invitational hosted by North Central College Thursday-Friday.</p><p>Diaz-Arrastia recorded a leap of 5.76 meters to win the women’s long jump and break the Washington University school record of 5.74m set by Kammie Holt in 2003. The mark also ranks seventh in NCAA Division III this season. Diaz-Arrastia added a runner-up finish in the triple jump with a leap of 11.35m</p><p>Ellenberger shaved more than 15 seconds off his previous best to finish second in the men’s 10,000 with a time of 30:21.96. His time ranks third all-time at Washington University and is 20th in NCAA Division III this season. Senior <strong>David Hamm</strong> clocked a time of 30:57.10 to finish fifth in the race.</p><p>Junior <strong>Jasmine Williams</strong> finished sixth in the long jump with a mark of 5.18m, and also tied for first in the women’s high jump with a clearance of 1.63m. Three other Washington U. women posted runner-up finishes at the meet. Freshman <strong>Emily Warner </strong>clocked a season-best time of 2:12.27 to finish second in the 800. Her time ranks 12th in NCAA Division III  this season.</p><p>Sophomore <strong>Melissa Gilkey</strong> recorded a throw of 40.96m to place second in the women’s javelin. Junior <strong>Anna Etherington</strong> finished as the runner-up in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.69m, while sophomore <strong>Claire Simons</strong> tied for third at 3.39m.</p><p>Sophomore <strong>Connor Duermit</strong> finished third in the men’s javelin with a throw of 57.09m. Sophomores <strong>Garrett Patrick</strong> (14:48.28) and <strong>Ryan Senci</strong> (14:49.44) both posted season-best times to finish ninth and 10th, respectively, in the men’s 5,000.</p><p>The Washington University in St. Louis men’s and women’s track &amp; field teams compete in their final regular-season meet Thursday-Friday, May 16-17, at the Gregory Invitational in Naperville, Ill.<br> </p></div>

<div><b>Body Copy:</b> <p><a href="http://d3baseball.com/awards/all-region/2013/central" target="_blank">ALL-CENTRAL REGION</a></p><p><strong>St. Louis, Mo., May 21, 2013 –</strong> Washington University in St. Louis sophomores <strong>Zack Kessinger</strong> and <strong>Dom Quaranta</strong> were each named to the All-Central Region Third Team by D3Baseball.com, as announced Monday by the website.</p><p>Kessinger, the Bears’ first baseman, and Quaranta, one of Washington U.’s starting pitchers, each received All-Region honors for the first time in their careers after earning first-team all-University Athletic Association (UAA) honors earlier this month.</p><p>Kessinger led the Bears with 11 doubles and 39 RBIs this season, and was second on the team with a .372 batting average, 54 hits and two homeruns. He closed the season with an 18-game hitting streak, and had 17 multiple-hit games and 10 multiple-RBI games while making 38 starts at first base. He ranked second in the UAA in RBIs and fourth in batting average. Kessinger was named the UAA Tournament Most Valuable Player in March, and was selected as the UAA Hitter of the Week April 29 and May 13.</p><p><img src="/SiteCollectionImages/Baseball/13Quaranta3-primary.jpg" alt="" align=right height=245 width=173>Quaranta finished the season with a perfect 7-0 record in eight starts for the Bears, one win shy of tying Tom Eckelman (1961) for best single-season record (8-0). His seven wins tied for first in the UAA and ranked fifth in the league with a 2.56 ERA. Quaranta’s 16 earned runs allowed was second-fewest in the UAA, while his 21 runs allowed ranked third. He was second on the team with 42 strikeouts in 56 1/3 innings pitched, and allowed just seven extra-base hits in 2013. Quaranta was selected as the UAA Pitcher of the Week April 29 and May 13, and named to the D3Baseball.com Team of the Week April 30.</p><p>The Washington University baseball team finished the season with a 25-15 record and tied with Case Western Reserve University for a share of the UAA championship in March.<br> </p></div>

<div><b>Body Copy:</b> <p><strong>St. Louis, Mo., May 23, 2013 </strong>– Washington University in St. Louis senior <strong>Adam Putterman</strong> was named the 2013 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Men’s Tennis Senior Player of the Year, it was announced by the organization Thursday.</p><p>Putterman, who also was named the 2013 ITA Central Region Player of the Year, joins John Watts (2010) as the two players in Washington U. school history to receive the award.</p><p>Putterman is the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Division III Singles Championship, which begins Thursday. He takes on Andrew Guzick of Vassar College in the first round. Adam Putterman and sophomore <strong>Ross Putterman</strong> are also the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Division III Doubles Championship, and take on Andrew La Cava and Colton Malesovas of Whitman College Thursday in the opening round.</p><p>This marks the second-straight season Adam Putterman will participate in both the NCAA singles and doubles championships.</p><p>Putterman has posted a 47-17 overall record as a senior, including a 26-7 mark while playing No. 1 singles. The 2013 University Athletic Association (UAA) Most Valuable Player, Putterman has a 158-69 overall record and is sixth on the all-time Washington University wins list. He is ranked No. 3 in NCAA Division III in singles after placing fifth at the 2012 ITA/USTA Division III National Championships in the fall, and made a run to the NCAA quarterfinals in singles a year ago.</p><p>The Bears’ No. 1 doubles team, the Puttermans are 19-8 this season and earned first-team all-UAA honors. The duo has won seven of its last eight matches, and has a 14-6 record while playing No. 1 doubles. The Puttermans dropped their first-round matchup a year ago in the NCAA Round of 16.</p></div>

Noack received the honor Sunday night at the 2013 NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Championship Banquet in Kalamazoo, Mich.<br> <br>The Elite 89, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 89 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA’s championships.</p><p>Noack, a second-team all-University Athletic Association (UAA) selection, has a 21-11 overall record this season playing No. 3 singles for the Bears. He is 15-9 in singles, including an 8-5 mark at No. 3 singles in dual matches. Washington University has an NCAA Division III leading nine selections since the program’s inception in 2009-10.</p><p>Noack and the Bears take on No. 2 ranked Kenyon College in the quarterfinals of the 2013 NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Championship Monday at 4 p.m. (ET) in Kalamazoo, Mich. The Bears are making their seventh-straight and 10th overall NCAA Quarterfinal appearance.</p><p>Eligible student-athletes for the Elite 89 Award are sophomores or above who have participated in their sport for at least two years with their school. <div><b>Body Copy:</b> <p><strong>Kalamazoo, Mich., May 20, 2013 –</strong> The No. 12-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women’s tennis team had its season come to an end with a 5-1 loss to No. 1 Amherst College in the 2013 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Quarterfinal Monday morning at Stowe Stadium.</p><p>Washington U. picked up its loan point of the match at No. 2 doubles where the freshman duo of <strong>Aly Coran</strong> and <strong>Jamie Silverberg</strong> posted an 8-6 win over the No. 9-ranked team in the Northeast Region, Jen Newman and Zoe Pangalos. Playing at No. 2 doubles for just the second time this season, Coran and Silverberg trailed 4-2 before winning three-straight games to take a 5-4 lead. After Amherst tied it at 6-6, Coran and Silverberg finished off the win to make the overall match score 2-1 heading into singles.</p><p>“Making it to the quarterfinals has been on our goal sheet for a long time, so it was quite an accomplishment and we worked hard to get here,” eighth-year head coach <strong>Kelly Stahlhuth</strong> said. “Everyone put their hearts out there and played hard. Aly (Coran) and Jamie (Silverberg) pulled off an amazing win because they fought hard for it. This whole experience has been phenomenal for the freshmen. For <strong>Kate Klein</strong> and <strong>Paige Madara </strong>this was a culmination of the work they have put in during their four-year careers and it was great that they were able to be part of this.”</p><p>Washington U. finished its season with a 16-8 record, the second-most wins in a season during Stahlhuth’s tenure. Parizher and Putterman are repeat selections after earning first-team honors a year ago, while Noack took home the accolade for the first time in his career.</p><p>Noack, a second-team all-University Athletic Association (UAA) selection, has a 21-11 overall record this season playing No. 3 singles for the Bears. He is 15-9 in singles, including an 8-5 mark at No. 3 singles in dual matches. Noack has a 3.97 grade point average while majoring in chemical engineering.<img alt="" src="/SiteCollectionImages/Tennis-Mens/ParizherPrimary7.jpg" align=right height=245 width=173></p><p>Parizher, a first-team all-UAA honoree at No. 5 singles and No. 3 doubles with junior Jeffrey Hirsh, has compiled a 37-8 overall record as a senior. He is 20-4 in singles, and has won 14-straight matches entering NCAA Quarterfinal play. Parizher ranks ninth in school history with 128 victories. He is a three-time Academic all-UAA honoree, he has a 3.87 GPA while majoring in biology.<br>		<br>Putterman has posted a 44-15 overall record as a senior, including a 25-6 mark at No. 1 singles. He was named the 2013 UAA Most Valuable Player and Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Region Senior Player of the Year. Putterman has a 155-67 career mark and is seventh on the all-time Washington University wins list (155).</p><p><img alt="" src="/SiteCollectionImages/Tennis-Mens/AdamPuttermanPrimary10.jpg" align=left height=245 width=173>He will represent Washington U. in singles and with sophomore Ross Putterman in doubles at the 2013 NCAA Division III Individual Championships May 23-25 in Kalamazoo, Mich. A 2012 Capital One Second-Team Academic All-America selection, Putterman has a 3.75 GPA while majoring in economics and strategy, and organizational behavior and human resources.</p><p>In order to be selected to an academic all-district team, a student-athlete must demonstrate success on the playing field and in the classroom, with academic and athletic achievements taken into consideration. The student-athlete must possess a minimum 3.30 cumulative GPA and be at least a sophomore in academic standing. All three student-athletes will be eligible to be selected to the Academic All-America Team, which will be announced on Tuesday, June 4.</p></div>

<div><b>Body Copy:</b> <p><a href="/Sports/Softball/Documents/2013AASoftball.pdf">ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA TEAM</a></p><p><strong>St. Louis, Mo., May 21, 2013</strong> – Washington University in St. Louis senior outfielder <strong>Ashley Janssen</strong> and junior designated player<strong> Kelsey Neal </strong>were named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-America Division III Softball Second Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).</p><p>Janssen is just the sixth softball student-athlete in school history to earn Academic All-America honors joining Liz Swary (2003, 2004, 2005), Laura D’Andrea (2006), Laurel Sagartz (2007), Claire Voris (2011) and Neal (2012, 2013). Neal is the second player in school history to earn multiple Academic All-America awards after earning third-team accolades in 2012.<br>	<br>“The academic rigors at Washington University can be quite challenging. Ashley and Kelsey are exceptional students with tremendous athletic ability,” said eighth-year head coach <strong>Leticia Pineda-Boutté</strong>. “This honor is a result of their commitment to excel in the classroom and on the diamond. I am extremely proud of their accomplishment.”<br>	<br>Janssen, a second-team National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Midwest Region and University Athletic Association (UAA) honoree, emerged as one of the top hitters in the conference with a .451 batting average in 45 starts for the Bears. She recorded 20 multiple-hit games this season, and reached base in the final 36 games. Janssen ranked in the top-three in the conference in five offensive categories: first in hits (69), second in batting average (.451) and on-base percentage (.451), and third in walks (21) and runs scored (41).</p><p>She finished her four-year career as one of the top hitters in school history, ranking first in on-base percentage (.485) and walks (64), second in batting average (.408), third in hits (181), fourth in stolen bases (34) and fifth in runs scored (114). A two-time first-team Capital One Academic All-District and three-time Academic All-UAA honoree, Janssen has a 3.87 grade point average while majoring in neuroscience.<img alt="" src="/SiteCollectionImages/Softball/NealPrimary9.jpg" align=right height=245 width=173></p><p>Neal, a first-team all-UAA and second-team NFCA Midwest Region selection, started all 45 games and hit .349 with 15 doubles, eight home runs and 55 RBIs. Neal ranked in the top-10 in the UAA in four offensive categories: second in doubles (15), RBIs (55) and sacrifice flies (4), and third in total bases (91). She finished the season with 13 multiple-hit and 14 multiple-RBI games.</p><p>On the mound, Neal posted a 13-7 record with a 3.22 earned run average in 24 starts. She recorded 87 strikeouts in 108 2/3 innings pitched, while limiting opponents to a .270 batting average. A two-time Capital One First-Team Academic All-District and Academic All-UAA honoree, Neal has a 3.87 GPA while majoring in economics. <br>	<br>In order to be selected to an Academic All-America team, a student-athlete must demonstrate success on the playing field and in the classroom, with academic and athletic achievements taken into consideration. The student-athlete must possess a minimum 3.30 GPA and be at least a sophomore in academic standing.</p><p>Washington University finished the 2013 season with a 31-14 overall record, and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the 11th time in the last 12 years. The Bears also placed second in the UAA with a 5-3 mark.</p></div>

Washington U. takes on Augustana College Saturday at 10 a.m. in an elimination game, while St. Thomas takes on the winner of Fontbonne and No. 16 Central College at 2 p.m.</p><p>“Kendra Bowe was mixing locations and speeds very well and we were getting underneath the ball when we were connecting,” said eighth-year head coach <strong>Leticia Pineda-Boutté</strong>. “It is tough to start off the inning after giving up some early runs. The home run for Gregory was the 30th of her career.</p><p>Freshman starting pitcher <strong>Annie Pitkin</strong> did not get out of the second inning against St. Thomas. Gregory drove in a run with an RBI single to right that was booted by junior <strong>Maggie Mullen</strong> allowing another run to score. Pitkin (13-5) took the loss for Washington U. allowing five runs (four earned) in 1 1/3 innings pitched.</p><p>Freshman <strong>Brooke Hofer </strong>took over for Pitkin and was tremendous, allowing six hits in 5 2/3 innings pitched and kept St. Thomas’ offense in check. Hofer has thrown 11 1/3 innings in the NCAA Tournament, allowing one earned run.</p><p>Kendra Bowe (18-3) allowed just two hits and one walk in the win. At one point in the game, Bowe retired 13-straight batters. <div><b>Body Copy:</b> <p><strong>St. Louis, Mo., May 15, 2013</strong> – Washington University in St. Louis senior <strong>Adam Putterman</strong> was named the 2013 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Men’s Tennis Central Region Senior Player of the Year, it was announced by the organization Wednesday.</p><p>Putterman is one of four finalists for the National Senior Player of the Year Award, which will be announced May 22. Putterman joins Andy Hersh (John Hopkins), Richard Meyer (Williams) and Nicholas Ballou (California Lutheran) as a finalist.</p><p>Putterman will represent Washington U. in the NCAA Division III 32-man singles draw, while he and sophomore <strong>Ross Putterman</strong> were one of 16 doubles teams selected. This marks the second-straight season Adam Putterman will participate in both the NCAA singles and doubles championships.</p><p>Putterman has posted a 44-15 overall record as a senior, including a 25-6 mark while playing No. 1 singles. The 2013 University Athletic Association (UAA) Most Valuable Player, Putterman has a 155-67 overall record and is seventh on the all-time Washington University wins list (155). He is ranked No. 3 in NCAA Division III in singles after placing fifth at the 2012 ITA/USTA Division III National Championships in the fall, and made a run to the NCAA quarterfinals in singles a year ago.</p><p>The Bears’ No. 1 doubles team, the Puttermans are 17-7 this season and earned first-team all-UAA honors. The duo has won nine of its last 10 matches, and has a 12-5 record while playing No. 1 doubles.</p></div>

<div><b>Body Copy:</b> <p><a href="http://bearsports.wustl.edu/Stats/TeamStats/baseball/2013/game38.htm" target="_blank">BOX SCORE</a></p><p><strong>Terre Haute, Ind., May 1, 2013 –</strong> The Washington University in St. Louis scored a season-high 14 runs, including seven in the second inning, en route to a 14-1 win at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Wednesday evening.</p><p>Washington U. sent 13 batters to the plate in the top of the second inning, scoring seven runs on seven hits and three walks in the inning to build a 7-0 lead. Seniors <strong>Kevin Paule</strong> and <strong>David Madson</strong> both singled and senior <strong>Matthew Polites</strong> drew a walk to load the bases with one out for the Bears. Freshman <strong>Max Golembo</strong> and sophomore <strong>Andrew Goldstick</strong> followed with back-to-back RBI singles, and Polites scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-0 in favor of the Bears. Junior <strong>Kyle Billig</strong> drew a walk to load the bases, ahead of sophomore <strong>Chris Lowery’s</strong> sacrifice fly.</p><p>Sophomore <strong>Zack Kessinger</strong> then hit a two-RBI double to extend the lead to 6-0. Paule hit his second single of the inning, and sophomore <strong>Noah Doppelt</strong> followed with an RBI single to make it 7-0. Madson drew a walk to again load the bases for Washington U., but a groundout ended the inning. In the top of the third, Golembo led off with a walk and came around to score on a wild pitch to give the Bears an 8-0 lead.</p><p>Rose-Hulman got runners to second and third with one out in the bottom of the third, but senior <strong>Stephen Bonser</strong> got a called strikeout and a groundout to end the inning. The Fightin’ Engineers got the bases loaded with one out on a pair of singles and a walk in the bottom of the fourth, but Bonser got a flyout and a strikeout to keep the shutout intact.</p><p><img src="/SiteCollectionImages/Baseball/13Golembo-primary.jpg" alt="" align=right height=245 width=173>The Bears added two more runs on an RBI single by Golembo and a groundout by Goldstick in the top of the fifth to extend the lead to 10-0. Rose-Hulman scored on back-to-back doubles to lead off the bottom of the sixth, making it 10-1. In the top of the seventh, Billig hit a three-run homer to right, his third of the season, to make it 13-1. Paule hit a solo homerun to left in the top of the eighth to finish the scoring for the Bears.</p><p>Bonser (6-3) took sole possession of 10th on Washington University’s career wins list (18), throwing five shutout innings. He scattered five hits and issued two walks, while striking out three. Senior <strong>Taylor Berman</strong> allowed one run on four hits, while striking out one, in two innings. Junior <strong>Matt Kenahan</strong> and Lowery each threw one inning of relief, combining for three strikeouts.</p><p>Eight different players recorded hits in the game for Washington U., who tallied 14 hits as a team. Golembo and Paule both finished 3-for-5 at the plate to lead the way for the Bears. Golembo had a double, two RBIs and four runs scored, while Paule had a homerun, an RBI and two runs. Kessinger (2-for-5, double, two RBIs, run) and Madson (2-for-4, run) had two hits apiece.</p><p>Washington U. has 10 days off before playing its final regular-season games. The Bears take on University of Chicago in a doubleheader beginning at Noon Saturday, May 11 at Kelly Field. Washington U. will also be recognizing its 11 seniors for Senior Day.</p><p><strong>Bear Notebook:</strong> It marked the 22nd game this season that Washington U. has had double-digit hits … Kessinger has recorded hits in his last 16 games …  Billig’s two runs scored moved him into a tie for second on Washington U.’s career leaderboard (146) … Billig also recorded his 155th career hit with the homerun, one hit shy of 10th on the all-time career list … It was Bonser’s 10th start of the season and second in five days … Bonser has walked just six batters in 73.1 innings this season ... <div><b>Body Copy:</b> <p><a href="http://www.uwlathletics.com/sports/2012/12/13/MTRACK_1213120030.aspx?id=122" target="_blank">MEET INFORMATION</a></p><p><strong>St. Louis, Mo., May 19, 2013 –</strong> The Washington University in St. Louis track &amp; field teams had three men and six women qualify to compete at the 2013 NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track &amp; Field Championships, which will be held Thursday-Saturday, May 23-25, at University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in La Crosse, Wis.</p><p>The top-16 relays, along with the top 20 individual men and the top 22 individual women in each event were accepted into the competition. Washington University’s qualifiers include: senior <strong>Anne Diaz-Arrastia</strong>; juniors <strong>Michael Ellenberger, Anna Etherington, Kevin Sparks</strong> and <strong>Jasmine Williams</strong>; sophomores <strong>Melissa Gilkey, Drew Padgett</strong> and <strong>Claire Simons</strong>; and freshman <strong>Emily Warner</strong>.</p><p>Five of Washington University’s nine qualifiers will compete on the meet’s opening day Thursday. Etherington, who had the second-best qualifying mark, and Simons (20th) compete in the women’s pole vault beginning at 2:40 p.m. Diaz-Arrastia competes in the women’s long jump at 3 p.m. after qualifying in 11th. On the track, Sparks and Ellenberger compete in the men’s 10,000 finals at 7:05 p.m. Sparks qualified in 18th, while Ellenberger was 19th.</p><p>Williams and Warner will be in action Friday. Williams competes in the women’s high jump at 2:15 p.m. after posting the third-highest mark during the regular season. Warner will take the track in the women’s 400 prelims at 5:50 p.m. She had the sixth-fastest qualifying time. The final of the women’s 400 is scheduled for 3:40 p.m. Saturday.</p><p>Gilkey and Padgett close the meet for Washington U. during Saturday’s events. Gilkey qualified ninth in the women’s javelin, which is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. Padgett competes in the second-to-last event on the track, the men’s 5,000, at 5:55 p.m.</p><p>The qualifying marks for Diaz-Arrastia, Etherington, Gilkey, Padgett, Warner and Williams are all school records. Etherington is the only returning outdoor All-American, having finished fourth in the women’s pole vault in 2012, while also placing fourth at the 2012 and 2013 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. Diaz-Arrastia (pentathlon, triple jump) and Warner (800) also earned All-America honors at the 2013 Indoor Championships. <div><b>Body Copy:</b> <p><a href="http://bearsports.wustl.edu/Sports/GolfWomen/Documents/2013NCAADayFour.pdf">RESULTS</a></p><p><strong>Destin, Fla., May 17, 2013</strong> – Washington University in St. Louis freshman <strong>Connie Zhou</strong> highlighted the final round with a five-over 77 as the Bears concluded play at the 2013 NCAA Division III Women’s Golf Championship Friday at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin, Fla.</p><p>Washington University fired a four-day total of 1,287 (333-318-319-317, +135) to record a program-best sixth place finish in the 21-team field. University of Mary Hardin-Baylor led from start to finish and claimed its first national championship in school history with a score of 1,239 (306-311-311-311). Laura Lindsey of the University of Texas-Tyler earned medalist honors with a score of 296 (72-72-77-75, +8).</p><p>“The team really responded well today. We were able to get four good scores when the course had been playing a few strokes tougher all week for teams that played in the afternoon,” said fifth-year head coach <strong>Sean Curtis</strong>. “I thought we showed a lot of toughness putting up three good scores in a row like we did.”</p><p>The 317 on the final day was a school-record low round in NCAA Championship play, breaking the all-time mark of 318 set on Wednesday. The Bears had three of four players shoot 80 or lower for the second time in the 2013 NCAA Championship.</p><p>Zhou, who earned second-team All-America honors in her rookie season, tied for 18th place in the field of 111 players with a 72-hole score of 317 (88-75-77-77). She fired a one-over 37 on the back nine with a birdie at No. 13, and then started the front nine off with a birdie at No. 1. Zhou was hampered by a double bogey at No. 5, but managed to shoot a four-over 40.</p><p>Junior <strong>Andrea Hibbert</strong> shot a seven-over 79 on the final day to finish in a tie for 28th place with a four-day total of 322 (84-86-73-79). Hibbert had three birdies on the back nine en route to a three-over 39, and followed with a four-over 40 on the front. She has finished in the top-30 in all three NCAA Championship appearances (2011-12th, 2012-20th, 2013-28th).<img alt="" src="/SiteCollectionImages/Golf-Womens/BuckPrimary10.jpg" align=right height=245 width=173></p><p>Two-time first-team All-American sophomore <strong>Olivia Lugar</strong> fired a nine-over 81 on the final day to finish in the top-40. Lugar, the 2012 Ping Division III National Player of the Year, recorded a four-day score of 323 (79-80-83-81) to tie for 35th place. She shot a three-over 39 on the back with birdies on No. 13 and No. 15, and was hampered by four bogeys and a double bogey in a six-over 42 on the front.</p><p>Senior <strong>Hannah Buck</strong> concluded her four-year with an eight-over 80 on the final day of the NCAA Championship. Buck, the only three-time All-American in school history, fired a four-over 40 on the front and back nine. Buck joined Lugar in the top-40, tying for 38th place with a 72-hole score of 325 (82-77-85-80). Senior <strong>Melanie Walsh</strong> rounded out the lineup for Washington U. with a 366 (91-88-94-93), good for 101st place.</p><p>“I am really proud of the team and its great to be able to say we finished higher than we have before,” Curtis added. “It’s a great way for our seniors, who have meant so much to this program, to end their careers playing at the national championship.”</p><p>Washington University made its fourth-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championship and was ranked No. 4 in the Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) top-25 poll. The Bears placed in the top-five in nine of 10 tournaments they competed in, and won two tournaments in 2012-13.</p></div>

The time broke the Washington University school record of 14:27.76 set by Dave Spandorfer in 2011, and also ranks 13th in NCAA Division III this season. Sophomore <strong>Ryan Senci</strong> placed fifth in the event with a time of 14:54.35.</p><p>Junior <strong>Anna Etherington</strong> also won an individual title at the meet, claiming the top spot in the women’s pole vault with a clearance of 3.91 meters. Sophomore <strong>Claire Simons</strong> (3.56m) and junior <strong>Moira Killoran</strong> (3.26m) finished second and eighth, respectively. Freshman <strong>Emily Warner</strong> (800-2:13.66) and sophomore <strong>Melissa Gilkey</strong> (javelin-39.10m) posted fourth-place finishes for the Washington U. women at the meet.</p><p>Freshman <strong>Britt Henderson</strong> clocked a season-best time of 1:53.48 to finish eighth in the men’s 800. His time ranks third all-time at Washington University. Junior <strong>Evan Miller</strong> recorded a career-best time of 32:24.02 to place fifth in the 10,000. The 400 relay team of sophomores <strong>Troy Makous</strong>, <strong>James Hallwood</strong> and <strong>Nick Alaniva</strong> and senior <strong>Ryan Doll</strong> placed sixth with a time of 42.81. Doll (22.51) and Hallwood (22.57) added sixth- and seventh-place finishes, respectively, in the 200.</p><p>The WUSTL men also had three top-eight finishes in field events. Sophomore <strong>Connor Duermit</strong> finished second in the javelin with a throw of 57.72m. Makous (4.53m) and Alaniva (4.38m) placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the pole vault.</p><p>The Washington University men’s and women’s track &amp; field teams close the season at the 2013 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track &amp; Field Championships Thursday-Saturday, May 23-25, in LaCrosse, Wis. Sophomore <strong>Claire Simons</strong> won the event with a clearance of 3.57m, while junior <strong>Moira Killoran</strong> placed third with a height of 3.22m.</p><p>Senior <strong>Anne Diaz-Arrastia</strong> earned the other first-place finish on the day for Washington U., recording a leap of 5.43m to win the women’s long jump. Sophomore <strong>Melissa Gilkey</strong> finished as the runner-up in the javelin with a throw of 34.96m.</p><p>The men’s 400 relay team of sophomores <strong>Troy Makous</strong>, <strong>James Hallwood</strong>, <strong>Nick Alaniva</strong> and senior <strong>Ryan Doll</strong> clocked a time of 42.71 to finish fourth. Hallwood also added a sixth-place finish in the 100 (11.25), while Doll placed eighth in the 200 (22.84). Makous cleared a season-best height of 4.60m to place second in the pole vault, while Alaniva finished third with a height of 4.45m.</p><p>The Washington University men’s and women’s track &amp; field teams return to action at the Dr. Keeler Invitational hosted by North Central College Thursday-Friday, May 9-10, in Naperville, Ill.<br> </p></div>

The Bears will host seven teams for the Central Regional to be played Thursday-Saturday, May 9-11, at Tao Tennis Center.</p><p>It is just the second time in school history that Washington U. will serve as a regional host. The Bears previously hosted in 2002, the only time in school history they advanced to the NCAA Division III Quarterfinal.</p><p>“The Washington University in St. Louis women’s tennis team is thrilled at having the opportunity to not only compete in the NCAA Regional round, but also to serve as a host,” eighth-year head coach <strong>Kelly Stahlhuth</strong> said. “It is an honor to host the first three rounds of the NCAA Championship for the first time in my tenure at Washington University. This is the culmination of our spring season that we have been working toward as a team.”</p><p>Washington U., who finished the regular season with a 14-7 record, earned an at-large bid to the 2013 tournament after finishing fourth at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship. The Bears are making their 14th overall appearance, and sixth in a row, in the NCAA Championship. Washington U. has an all-time record of 7-13 in the tournament.</p><p>The Bears (14-7) received an opening-round bye as the top seed in the regional. Wheaton College (Ill.) (16-4), the winner of the College Conference of Illinois &amp; Wisconsin (CCIW), takes on St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) champion Principia College (12-4) Thursday, with the winner facing Washington U. in the second round Friday.</p><p>The other two first-round matches feature Coe College (19-4) against Franklin College (13-2), and No. 13 DePauw University (17-7) against Hope College (15-6). All four of those teams earned automatic bids as the winners of their respective conferences: Coe - Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC); Franklin – Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC); DePauw – North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC); and Hope – Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). Match times will be posted on bearsports.wustl.edu when they become available.<br>	<br>Four UAA teams were selected for the NCAA Championship. Emory University received the automatic bid as the conference champion, while Carnegie Mellon University and University of Chicago received at-large bids. All four UAA teams are hosting their respective regions.<br>			<br>Kalamazoo College will host the NCAA Division III Team Championship Monday-Wednesday, May 20-22, at Stowe Stadium in Kalamazoo, Mich. The NCAA Individual Championships are scheduled for Thursday-Saturday, May 23-25. Student-athletes selected to compete in the individual championships will be announced Wednesday, May 8.<br> </p></div>

<div><b>Body Copy:</b> <p><strong>St. Louis, Mo., May 16, 2013 –</strong> Washington University in St. Louis had three individuals selected to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District Five Division III Women’s At-Large First Team, as announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).</p><p>Senior <strong>Kate Klein, Hinsdale</strong> of the women’s tennis team, sophomore <strong>Olivia Lugar</strong> of the women’s golf team and junior <strong>Chi Pham</strong> of the women’s swimming &amp; diving team each received the honor. Pham is a repeat selection from 2012, while Klein and Lugar each earned the accolade for the first time in their careers.</p><p><img alt="" src="/SiteCollectionImages/Tennis-Womens/13Klein-primary.jpg" align=right height=245 width=173>Klein, who holds a 3.90 GPA while majoring in anthropology and Spanish, has recorded 95 wins in her four-year career for the women’s tennis team. She has posted 24 wins this season while helping lead the Bears to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the second time in school history. In 2012, Klein earned second-team all-University Athletic Association (UAA) honors in doubles, and qualified for the NCAA Division III Individuals Doubles Championship. She was the first women’s tennis player in school history to be named Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Freshman of the Year, and qualified for the NCAA Individual Championships as a singles player in 2010.</p><p>Lugar holds a 3.84 GPA while majoring in international &amp; area studies. She was named to the 2013 Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Division III All-America First Team for the second year in a row, while also earning all-Central Region honors for the second time. The 2012 Ping Division III National Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, Lugar ranks fifth in NCAA Division III in 2013 with a 77.28 scoring average. She recorded 16 of 18 rounds at 80 or lower, and tied for medalist honors at the Doug Georgianni Memorial Invitational and at the Millikin University Fall Classic.</p><p><img alt="" src="/SiteCollectionImages/Swimming-Diving/12Pham-primary.jpg" align=left height=245 width=173>Pham, who has a 3.73 GPA while majoring in environmental policy and public health, received Academic All-District first-team honors for the second year in a row. She earned All-America honors in three events in 2013, finishing ninth in the 400-freestyle relay, 14th in the 200-medley relay and 16th in the 200 individual medley. Pham was also a member of two school-record setting relays – 400-freestyle and 200-medley in 2013. She was a two-time All-American in 2011, placing fifth in the 100 backstroke and ninth in the 200 IM. Pham, who owns the school record in the 100 backstroke, was also the 2011 UAA Rookie of the Year.</p><p>In order to be selected to an Academic All-District team, a student-athlete must possess at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA and be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing. As First-Team Academic All-District Team selections, Klein, Lugar and Pham will be among the nominees for the Academic All-America Team, which will be announced Tuesday, June 4.<br> </p></div>

<div><b>Body Copy:</b> <p><strong>St. Louis, Mo., May 1, 2013 —</strong> Washington University in St. Louis freshman <strong>Emily Warner</strong> was named the 2013 University Athletic Association (UAA) Women’s Outdoor Track &amp; Field Rookie of the Year, while head coach <strong>Jeff Stiles</strong> and his assistants were selected as the UAA Men’s Outdoor Coaching Staff of the Year, as announced Wednesday by the Association.</p><p>Warner was selected as the Women’s Rookie of the Year after earning all-UAA honors in four events. She won the UAA title in the 400 with a Washington University school-record time of 55.99, which ranks fifth in NCAA Division III this season and was more than a second faster than the runner-up finisher. Warner also ran a season-best time to finish as the runner-up in the 200, and also anchored the Washington U. 400 and 1,600 relays to runner-up finishes.</p><p>In addition, Stiles and assistant coaches <strong>Lane Lohr, Aubrey Edwards-Luce, Danny Edwards-Luce, Zach Griffen, Laith Hoffarth, John Laughlin, Kelly Lovett, Scott Pettit, Gordon Reiter, Nich Steinbach</strong> and <strong>Andy Weatherford</strong> were named the UAA Men’s Outdoor Coaching Staff of the Year after leading Washington University to its fifth UAA men’s team title in a row. It marks the fourth-straight year Stiles and his assistants have received the award.<br> </p></div>
