Kelcey Zutavern Named Assistant Sports Information Director
St. Louis, Mo., November 1, 2011 — Kelcey Zutavern has been named the Assistant Sports Information Director at Washington University in St. Louis, Director of Athletics John Schael announced on Tuesday. Zutavern will begin her duties on November 7.
Zutavern replaces Vincent Novicki, who resigned after four years to become the assistant sports information director at his alma mater Seton Hall University.
Zutavern arrives on the Danforth Campus after having served as the Sports Information Director at Central Methodist the past four years. A native of Dunning, Neb., she joined the Central Methodist athletic staff after graduating cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Doane College in May 2008. Zutavern received her Master’s of Education degree at Central Methodist in 2010.
Zutavern’s responsibilities at Washington U. will include handling all publicity for baseball, cross country, men’s soccer, swimming and diving, track and field, volleyball, women’s basketball and women’s tennis.
Since coming to Central Methodist, Zutavern has become an active member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). She currently serves on the CoSIDA Academic All-America Committee and the Female Athletic Media Relations Executives (FAME) Steering Committee.
While at Doane, Zutavern worked as a student assistant in the school's sports information department. She spent the summer of 2007 serving as an intern in the communications department at USA Track & Field in Indianapolis, Ind. Zutavern also had an internship at the Nebraska School Activities Association during her senior year at Doane. As a member of Doane’s track & field team, Zutavern was a four-time NAIA national qualifier in the throwing events.
