No. 13 Washington University Women’s Tennis Falls at No. 10 DePauw, 5-4
Greencastle, Ind., Feb. 23, 2013 - The No. 13-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women’s tennis team dropped a close 5-4 match at No. 10 DePauw University in the Bears’ season-opener Saturday morning.
Sophomore Hanna Newstadt and freshman Jamie Silverberg picked up a win at No. 2 doubles for the Bears, but DePauw (2-0) took a 2-1 lead after doubles play. The Tigers held a 4-3 lead with No. 2 and No. 3 singles in the third sets. Silverberg got a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles to tie the match, but DePauw’s Claire Marshall edged freshman Aly Coran on a third-set tiebreaker at No. 3 singles to seal the win for the Tigers.
