No. 9 Washington U. Women’s Soccer Rebounds With 4-0 Win at DePauw
Greencastle, Ind., September 16, 2012 — The No. 9 ranked Washington University in St. Louis women’s soccer team rebounded from its first loss of the season with 4-0 win at DePauw University on Sunday afternoon in Greencastle, Ind.
Washington U. scored a pair of goals in each half, and outshot DePauw 37-4 in the win. Senior goalkeepers Clara Jaques (63:27, two saves) and Caitlin Heim (26:33) split time in goal as Washington U. picked up its fourth shutout of the year.
Sophomore Anna Zambricki and freshman Liz Collins scored in the first half as Washington U. built a 2-0 halftime lead. The Bears outshot DePauw 17-2 in the first half.
Sophomore Lillie Toaspern scored her team-leading third goal of the year to make it 3-0, and then senior Allie Betley added a goal in the 69th minute to round out the scoring for the Bears. Freshman Olivia Lillegraven picked up a pair of assists in the win for Washington U. to up her team-leading total to three.
Washington University (5-1) plays its fourth-straight road game on Thursday, Sept. 20, at Illinois Wesleyan University. Game time is set for 7 p.m. in Bloomington, Ill.
Bear Notebook: Washington U. leads the all-time series with DePauw, 10-2 … The win for Jacques in goal was the 48th of her career .. The victory for head coach Jim Conlon was the 270th of his collegiate coaching career.
