Kate Doyle Named to Capital One Academic All-America Women’s Soccer Team

St. Louis, Mo., November 27, 2012 – Washington University in St. Louis junior back Kate Doyle has been named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America® Division III Women’s Soccer Team, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

A second-team honoree, Doyle is the sixth women’s soccer student-athlete to earn Academic All-America honors and the 105th in Washington University history.

Doyle started 21 matches this season on defense and in the midfield, and was tied for the team lead with seven assists. She scored a pair of goals in 2012, including the game-winner in the season-opening 2-1 win against Alma College on Aug. 31. Doyle was honored as a first-team all-University Athletic Association (UAA) in 2012, the third-straight year she earned all-conference accolades.

In 64 career matches, Doyle has scored three goals and dished out 17 assists for 23 career points. Doyle enters her senior season ranked 10th in school history in assists.

“Kate Doyle is a special student-athlete. She epitomizes the scholar and champion that we expect from our women,” said Washington University head coach Jim Conlon. “Kate is a great competitor, teammate and friend that sets a great example on and off the field.”

A two-time Academic All-UAA selection and a 2012 Capital One First-Team Academic All-District selection, Doyle has a 3.84 grade point average while majoring in chemistry.

The Capital One Academic All-America® Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
