Women's Soccer Ties No. 14 Emory, 0-0, in UAA Opener

St. Louis, Mo., October 3, 2010 – The Washington University in St. Louis women’s soccer team opened University Athletic Association (UAA) play with 0-0 double overtime tie with No. 14 ranked Emory University on Sunday afternoon at Francis Field in St. Louis, Mo.

Sophomore goalkeeper Clara Jaques picked up her fourth shutout of the season making four saves. Jacques also lowered her goals against average to 0.64. Emory’s Erica Stein (45 minutes, one save) and Kaele Leonard (65 minutes, five saves) split time in goal for the Eagles.

The two teams each recorded 15 shots in the contest, while Emory had an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks. Juniors Emma Brown and Lee Ann Felder each had three shots to lead the Washington University offense.

Washington University (4-5-1, 0-0-1 UAA) steps out of conference play on Thursday, Oct. 7, for a road game at Webster University. Game time is set for 5 p.m. at the St. Louis Soccer Park.

Bear Notebook: Emory leads the all-time series with Washington U., 15-5-3 … The Bears are now 4-2-1 at home this season … The shutout for Jaques was the 10th of her career.
