St. Louis, Mo., October 23, 2012 — The No. 5 ranked Washington University in St. Louis women’s soccer team concluded non-conference play with a 5-0 victory over Millikin University on Tuesday night at Francis Field in St. Louis. Washington U. improved to 7-0-1 this season at home, and extended its unbeaten streak at Francis Field to 17 games dating back to 2011.

Washington University had three different student-athletes score in the first half as the Bears jumped out to a commanding 3-0 lead. It took Washington U. just 1:26 to find the net in the opening half as freshman Olivia Lillegraven took a pass from senior Emily Gosché and drilled a shot to the far corner to it 1-0.

Sophomore Lillie Toaspern pushed the advantage to 2-0 with an unassisted goal in the 21st minute after she snuck through the Millikin defense and beat Millikin goalkeeper Natalie Robertaccio with a shot from 20 yards out. A few minutes later, the Bears capitalized on a corner kick corner as freshman Sam Ezratty headed home the cross from senior Jodi Rosenzweig to make it 3-0. Washington U. outshot Millikin 18-1 in the first half.

Sophomore Anna Zambricki pushed the lead to 4-0 at the 60:11 mark after she chipped the goalkeeper for her team-leading ninth goal of the year. Junior Kate Doyle, who had a career-high three assists in last year’s win at Millikin, assisted on Zambricki’s goal.

Freshman Abby Starker rounded out the scoring with her first collegiate goal at the 76:58 mark in the second half. Freshman Anna Sippel recorded that assist after sending a cross that was dummied by junior Lauren Steimle.

Senior goalkeeper Clara Jaques played the opening 26:47 in goal to pick up the victory. Seniors Caitlin Heim (44:33) and Hilary Stepansky (18:40) also split time in goal for Washington U. The Bears had a 28-2 shot advantage and recorded 12 corner kicks in the win.

Washington U. (13-1-1) returns to University Athletic Association (UAA) action with a pair of road contents this weekend. The Bears are scheduled to face the University of Rochester at 5 p.m. (ET) on Friday, Oct. 26, in Rochester, N.Y., before traveling to Cleveland, Ohio, to take on Case Western Reserve University at 11 a.m. (ET) on Sunday, Oct. 28.

Bear Notebook: Washington U. has won all four meetings between the two teams … 26 players saw the field for the Bears in the victory … The win in goal for Jaques was the 57th of her career, extending her school record … Washington U. is 43-7-3 (.840) at home in five seasons under head coach Jim Conlon.
