No. 5 Women’s Golf Third at DePauw University Katman Classic
RESULTS
Danville, Ind., April 10, 2011 – The No. 5 ranked Washington University in St. Louis women’s golf team fired a 324 on day two to finish in third place at the DePauw University Katman Classic held Saturday-Sunday, April 9 -10, at Twin Bridges Golf Club in Danville, Ind.
No. 2 ranked and host DePauw University ran away with the team championship after firing a two-day total of 612 (314-298). No. 20 Olivet College finished second with a 646 (326-320), while Washington University was third with a 647 (323-324). DePauw’s Natalie Gough fired a 70 on the day two to win the individual title with a 150 (80-70).
Sophomore Hannah Buck tied for third place in the individual standings after firing a two-day total of 155 (78-77). Buck was third in the tournament in birdies (three) and fourth in par four scoring (+5).
Freshman Andrea Hibbert (81-81) and Marcy Koonce (84-78) also had top-10 finishes, tying for 10th place with a 162. Freshman Allyson Chee (80-88, 168) tied for 23rd place, while sophomore Melanie Walsh tied for 32nd place (84-88, 172). Junior Katie Homa competed as an individual and tied for 45th place with a two-day total of 186 (96-90).
Washington University plays its final regular season tournament on Friday-Saturday, April 15-16, at the Millikin Hickory Point Open in Decatur, Ill.
Bear Notebook: Koonce completed the two-day tournament fourth in pars (21)… As a team the Bears were second (+11) in par four scoring and third in par four (+56).
