Washington University Women's Basketball Announces 2012-13 Schedule

2012-13 SCHEDULE

St. Louis, Mo., September 12, 2012 – The 12th Annual McWilliams Classic, the Titan Tip-Off Tournament and 14 games in the competitive University Athletic Association (UAA) highlight the 2012-13 Washington University in St. Louis women’s basketball schedule, as announced Wednesday by head coach Nancy Fahey.

Washington U. opens the season against Buena Vista University in the McWilliams Classic, and will take on either Lake Forest College or Ohio Northern University on day two. The Bears will also compete in the Titan-Tip Off Tournament at Illinois Wesleyan University on Nov. 24-25, facing DePauw University in the opener.

Washington U. will have non-conference road games at Elmhurst College, Augustana College and Webster University, along with home games against Millikin University, Fontbonne University, Spalding University and Southwestern University (Texas).

“Each year we look to play the best non-conference schedule possible. It is not hard to do that with the highly competitive teams in the Midwest,” said Fahey, who enters her 27th season on the Danforth Campus with a 617-112 (.846) overall record. “That will again prepare us for the always tough University Athletic Association conference schedule. We are a young team that has focused our sights on taking care of one game at a time.”

The Bears open UAA play with three road games beginning at the University of Chicago on Jan. 5, and will play their conference home opener on Jan. 18 against New York University.

All 13 home games will be broadcast live on Bear TV at: http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/wustl.portal.

Washington University concluded the 2011-12 season with a 21-6 overall record and a 10-4 mark in the UAA. The Bears finished second in the conference and earned their 23rd-consecutive NCAA Division III Tournament appearance.
