Former Bears' Standout Jaimie McFarlin Signs Professional Contract in Denmark
St. Louis, Mo., July 5, 2011 – Former Washington University in St. Louis women’s basketball standout Jaimie McFarlin has signed a professional contract to play for Denmark’s Vaerlose Basketball Club during its 2011-12 season, it was announced by the club.
McFarlin played for Washington University from 2005-10, helping lead the Bears to four NCAA Tournament berths with three trips to the NCAA championship game and the 2010 NCAA Division III National Championship, where she was tabbed as the NCAA Championship Most Outstanding Player.
McFarlin, who graduated from Washington University’s Olin Business School with a Masters in Business Administration in 2010, ended her career ranked first in school history with 1,013 rebounds and 11th in scoring with 1,071 points.
A three-time All-University Athletic Association (UAA) honoree, McFarlin was named to the NCAA Championship All-Tournament team on three occasions and led the Bears in rebounding, steals and blocked shots during each of her final two seasons on the Danforth Campus.
During the 2009-10 national championship season she averaged 10.4 points and 8.5 rebounds per game and 16.5 points and 14.5 rebounds at the Final Four, including a 14 point, 15 rebound performance in the Bears’ 65-59 win over Hope College in the national championship game.
