Senior Kathryn Berger Named to D3Hoops.com Team of the Week

St. Louis, Mo., December 15, 2010 – Senior Kathryn Berger of the No. 5 Washington University in St. Louis women’s basketball team was named to the D3Hoops.com National Team of the Week, as announced Wednesday by the website.
It is the first time in her career Berger earns D3Hoops.com Team of the Week honors and the third such weekly accolade she has received this week; she was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week and the Earlaustinjr.com Area College Player of the Week on Monday.
Berger recorded a double-double in back-to-back games to lead Washington University to a pair of victories last weekend in St. Louis, Mo. She scored 17 points to go along with 11 rebounds in the Bears’ 81-47 victory over Central College (Iowa) on Friday night, and followed that up by posting another 17-point, 11-rebound performance in a 69-49 win against Loras College on Saturday.
Additionally, Berger finished the week shooting 50.0 percent (6-of-12) from three-point range and was a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line in the two wins.
Berger leads Washington University in scoring (13.6 ppg) and rebounding (7.3 rpg) and ranks sixth in the UAA in both categories in addition to leading the league in free-throw shooting (.862) and ranking fourth in three-point field goal percentage (.439).
Washington U. (7-1) concludes its first semester of competition on Saturday, Dec. 18, when it faces Webster University in St. Louis, Mo., at 1 p.m.
