Kathryn Berger Earns D3Hoops.com Team of the Week Honors

St. Louis, Mo., January 19, 2011 – Senior Kathryn Berger of the No. 9 Washington University in St. Louis women’s basketball team was named to the D3Hoops.com National Team of the Week after she helped lead the Bears to a pair of conference victories last weekend.
Berger, who leads Washington University in scoring (14.6 ppg) and rebounding (7.1 rpg) this season, was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week for the third time this season and earns D3Hoops.com Team of the Week recognition for the second time.
Berger scored 17 points to go along with six rebounds in a 94-55 victory over Emory University last Friday night, eclipsing 600-career rebounds in the process. She followed that up by pouring in a career-high 26 points as the Bears upended fifth-ranked University of Rochester 101-90 in double overtime on Sunday afternoon.
With 909 career points, Berger is just 91 shy of becoming the 12th player in school history to reach the 1,000-point plateau. She ranks eighth in school history with 612 rebounds, fourth in all-time free-throw percentage (.783) and seventh in all-time three-point field goal percentage (.377).
Washington University (11-3, 2-1 UAA) returns to action for a pair of road games on the East coast this weekend. The Bears battle New York University on Friday, Jan. 21, in New York, N.Y., at 6 p.m. (ET), and Brandeis University on Sunday, Jan. 23, in Waltham, Mass., at 1:30 p.m. (ET).
