Washington University’s Kelly Pang Selected as D3VB Player of the Week
St. Louis, Mo., November 8, 2011 – Washington University in St. Louis junior libero Kelly Pang was named the D3VB National Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the website.
Pang and the Bears upended Carnegie Mellon University, No. 16 ranked University of Chicago and No. 2 Emory University to claim the 2011 University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship, held Nov. 5-6 in New York, N.Y.
Pang averaged over five digs per set with only two return errors in the three victories. She recorded 30 digs and added two aces in the Bears’ come-from-behind 3-2 win over Emory in the championship match. Pang leads Washington U. and is second in the conference with 498 digs for an average of 5.08 per set.
Washington University will serve as the host for the 2011 NCAA Division III Midwest Regional, to be held Nov. 11-13 at the WU Field House. The Bears take on Webster University in the first round on Friday at 8 p.m.
