Washington University’s Marilee Fisher Named to Capital One Academic All-District First Team
St. Louis, Mo., November 8, 2012 – Washington University in St. Louis senior setter Marilee Fisher was one of six student-athletes named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District Five Division III Volleyball First Team, as announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Fisher, who holds a 3.54 GPA while majoring in chemistry, received first-team Academic All-District and third-team Academic All-America honors in 2011. She currently ranks second in the University Athletic Association (UAA) and 19th in Division III averaging 10.52 assists per set.
Fisher is also second on the team with 28 service aces and third with 183 digs. She has recorded 4,472 career assists, which ranks fourth on Washington University’s all-time list. Fisher was also named to the 2012 all-UAA first team and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Central Region first team.
In order to be selected to the Academic All-District team, a student-athlete must possess at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA and be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing. As a First-Team Academic All-District Team selection, Fisher will be among the nominees for the Academic All-America Team, which will be announced Tuesday, Dec. 11.
