Washington University Volleyball to Hold “Dig for Pink” on Oct. 5
St. Louis, Mo., October 1, 2012 – The Washington University in St. Louis volleyball team is hosting a “Dig for Pink” night during its 7:30 p.m. match against Central College (Iowa) on Friday, Oct. 5, to promote breast cancer awareness and raise money for the Siteman Cancer Center.
Fans are encouraged to wear pink to support the “Dig for Pink” initiative. The team will be selling pink breast cancer awareness bracelets, and also raffling off pink game balls and a Vineyard Vines pink basket during the match to raise money. Donations will be given to Washington University’s Siteman Cancer Center, which provides free mammograms for underprivileged women.
Between the second and third sets of the Bears’ match against Central, the team will be honoring all breast cancer survivors and those currently battling breast cancer in the crowd. For more information about the “Dig Pink” night, contact sophomore Lindsay Juriga at ljuriga@wustl.edu.
The Washington University volleyball team is currently 16-1 overall and ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division III. Friday’s “Dig for Pink” match is one of four matches Washington U. will play this weekend during the Bears Classic at the WU Field House. All four matches will be broadcast live on the Bear Sports Network.
