Washington University’s Marilee Fisher Named to Capital One Academic All-District Team

St. Louis, Mo., November 14, 2011 – Washington University in St. Louis junior Marilee Fisher earned 2011 Capital One First-Team Academic All-District Five Volleyball honors, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Fisher, who carries a 3.66 GPA in chemistry, was one of six NCAA Division III volleyball players to receive Academic All-District Five honors. She was a Capital One Third-Team Academic All-District honoree in 2010. As a First-Team Academic All-District selection, Fisher will be among the nominees for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 13.
In order to receive Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must demonstrate success on the playing field and in the classroom, with both academic and athletic achievements taken into consideration. The student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA and be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing.
