Washington U.’s Tanya Marvi Named to Academic All-District Volleyball Team
St. Louis, Mo., Nov. 7, 2013 – Washington University in St. Louis senior defensive specialist Tanya Marvi was one of eight student-athletes selected to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District Five Division III Volleyball Team, as announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Marvi has played in 106 career matches, including all 30 matches this season. She ranks fourth on the team with 1.88 digs per set this season. Marvi has recorded 813 career digs, while also posting a career serve receive percentage of 93.6. She was named to the Bears Invitational all-tournament team Nov. 2, and is a three-time academic all-University Athletic Association (UAA) honoree. A chemistry major with a concentration in biochemistry and a minor in Persian, Marvi holds a 3.93 cumulative GPA.
In order to be selected to an Academic All-District team, a student-athlete must possess at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA and be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing. As a member of the Academic All-District Team, Marvi will be among the nominees for the Academic All-America Volleyball Team, which will be announced Tuesday, Dec. 10.
