Dan Burkett and Jonathan Jebson Named UAA Athlete of the Week

St. Louis, Mo., October 24, 2011 – Washington University in St. Louis junior quarterback Dan Burkett of the football team and sophomore goalkeeper Jonathan Jebson of the No. 8 ranked men’s soccer team earned University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week honors, as announced Monday by the Association.

Burkett threw two touchdowns and ran for another score in the Bears’ 24-21 win at Oberlin College on Saturday in Oberlin, Ohio. He completed 14-of-24 passes for 212 yard, and also picked up 38 yards on the ground in the victory.

Jebson posted a pair of shutouts as Washington University improved its overall record to 13-1-1 with a win and a tie last week. He made three saves in a 3-0 victory at home over Illinois Wesleyan University on Wednesday, and followed that up with eight saves in a 0-0 double overtime draw at No. 7 ranked Loras College on Sunday. The eight saves for Jebson is the second most in his career, and he lowered his goals against average to 0.52.
