Washington U.’s Anne Diaz-Arrastia Selected UAA Field Athlete of the Week
St. Louis, Mo., Feb. 4, 2013 – Senior Anne Diaz-Arrastia was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, as announced by the Association.
Diaz-Arrastia broke the Washington University school record in the women’s indoor pentathlon, winning the event at the Bob Keck Invite with 3,341 points. In the first pentathlon of her career, Diaz-Arrastia bettered the previous WUSTL school record of 3,245 set by Alli Alberts in 2009. The mark moved Diaz-Arrastia into third place on the NCAA Division III leaderboard this season. Her winning pentathlon score included personal bests in both the 60-meter hurdles (9.35) and the 800 (2:28.68).
Diaz-Arrastia was previously named the UAA Field Athlete of the Week on Jan. 22. She shared this week’s honor with Emory University’s Theresa Ford.
