WUSTL’s Anne Diaz-Arrastia and Emily Warner Named UAA Athletes of the Week

St. Louis, Mo., Jan. 22, 2013 – Senior Anne Diaz-Arrastia and freshman Emily Warner were named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women’s Track & Field Athletes of the Week, as announced by the Association.

Diaz-Arrastia won the long jump and placed second in the high jump at the I55 Triangular Saturday in Bloomington, Ill. She posted a career-best mark of 5.59 meters to win the long jump. The mark was more than 40 centimeters better than her previous indoor best, and ranks second all-time on Washington University’s women’s indoor long jump list. Diaz-Arrastia’s long jump mark also ranks fourth in NCAA Division III this season. She added a second-place finish in the high jump with a clearance of 1.55m, and also posted the fastest preliminary time in the 60m hurdles (9.49).

Warner recorded three top-two finishes at the I55 Triangular. She won the 200 by nearly .4 seconds with a time of 26.59. Warner added a runner-up finish in the 400 with a time of 59.42, which ranks eighth in NCAA Division III this season. She also anchored Washington U.’s 1,600 relay team that finished second in a time of 4:06.17.
