Washington U.’s Etherington and Jackson Earn UAA Athlete of the Week Honors

St. Louis, Mo., January 16, 2012 – Washington University in St. Louis sophomore Anna Etherington and senior Tyler Jackson were selected as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women’s and Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, as announced by the Association.
Etherington was named the UAA Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week after a season-best performance in the pole vault at the Illinois Wesleyan Titan Opener on Jan. 14. She cleared a season-best height of 3.51 meters to win the pole vault at the meet, and improve on her previous season-best of 3.35m. Etherington’s clearance of 3.51m ranks fourth on the NCAA Division III performance list this season.
Jackson picked up the UAA Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honor for the second time this season after winning the 55-meter hurdles at the Titan Opener. He won the event with a season-best time of 7.66 seconds, which was just .04 of a second off his career-best. Jackson’s time also converted to 8.25 seconds for the 60 hurdles, which is the third-fastest time in NCAA Division III this season. He also earned UAA Athlete of the Week honors on Dec. 5, 2011.
