WUSTL Swimming and Diving Qualifies Four for NCAA Division III Championships

St. Louis, Mo., March 6, 2012 – Four members of the Washington University in St. Louis men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are among the qualifiers for the 2012 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, which will be held Wednesday-Saturday, March 21-24, at the Indiana Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind.

Washington University will be represented by junior Brendan Morin, and freshmen Luke Dobben, Zane Turpin and Sara Taege. Each of the four WU athletes will compete in three events at the meet.

Morin qualified 13th in the men’s 100-yard butterfly, which is scheduled for March 22. In addition, he will swim the 50 freestyle on March 21 and the 100 freestyle on March 24.

Turpin qualified eighth in the 1,650 freestyle, while Dobben qualified 13th in the event, which will be held on March 24. Both Turpin and Dobben will also compete in the 500 freestyle on March 21. Turpin will compete in the 400 individual medley on March 22, while Dobben’s third event will be the 200 butterfly on March 23.

Taege, the lone competitor for the Washington U. women, qualified 12th in the 400 individual medley set for March 22. She will also swim in the 500 freestyle on March 21 and the 200 butterfly on March 23.
