Washington University Swimming and Diving Named Scholar All-America Teams
CSCAA SCHOLAR ALL-AMERICA TEAMS
St. Louis, Mo., February 24, 2012 – The Washington University in St. Louis men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams both received Scholar All-America honors for the Fall 2011 semester, as announced Thursday by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
The Washington U. men posted a cumulative team GPA of 3.45 to tie with Emory University for fifth among NCAA Division III institutions. The University Athletic Association (UAA) was represented by five teams on the men’s side, joining Washington U. and Emory were University of Chicago, New York University, and Case Western Reserve University.
On the women’s side, Washington U.’s team GPA of 3.48 put them in a tie for ninth in NCAA Division III. Other UAA teams joining the Bears on the Scholar All-America Team list were Emory, University of Rochester, New York, Chicago, and Case Western Reserve.
In order to receive CSCAA Scholar-All-America honors, a team must achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented to teams who reach the GPA standard in the fall semester and in the semester of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
