Bears' Softball Re-Enters Top-25 Poll at No. 22
TOP-25 POLL | REGIONAL RANKINGS
St. Louis, Mo., April 20, 2011 – The Washington University in St. Louis softball team re-entered the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top-25 Poll at No. 22, announced Wednesday by the Association.
Washington University is also ranked No. 4 in the NCAA Midwest Regional Rankings.
Washington U., who has won 20 of its last 23 games, ranks in the top-10 in three categories in three NCAA team statistics. The Bears are fourth in slugging percentage (.583), fifth in home runs per game (1.03) and seventh in batting average (.384).
Individually, junior Alyssa Abramoski is third in NCAA Division III in triples (seven) and ninth in triples per game (0.21). Senior Claire Voris ranks ninth in strikeouts per seven innings (9.9), 11th in strikeouts (142) and 38th in victories (12). Voris is second in school history and 24th in Division III history with 761 career strikeouts.
Washington University (26-7-1) returns to action on Friday, April 22, for a doubleheader against NAIA Missouri Baptist University. Game one is set to begin at 4 p.m. at the WU Softball Field. The Bears will celebrate Senior Day on Friday, honoring Ally Berenter, Antonia Ferguson and Voris.
