Washington U. Softball Cracks NFCA Top-25 Poll at No. 23

St. Louis, Mo., March 8, 2012 – Fresh off four victories at the Warrior Spring Fling in Conway, Ark., the Washington University in St. Louis softball team cracked the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top-25 Poll at No. 23, the Association announced on Thursday.
The Bears lead the conference with a .443 batting average and have scored 47 runs in the first four games of the season. Junior Sondra Polonsky (.625), freshman Adrienne White (.588) and junior Ashley Janssen (.538) are the top three hitters in the University Athletic Association (UAA) heading into the UAA Championship.
UAA rival Emory University is ranked No. 4 in the latest top-25 poll, and lead NCAA Division III in victories with a 15-1 record. Washington U. and Emory will square off on March 14 and March 17 at the UAA Championship in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
Washington University (4-0) begins a 12-game road trip to Florida with a pair of games on Saturday, March 10, at the NTC Games. The Bears take on John Carroll University at 12:30 p.m. (ET) and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at 2:30 p.m. (ET).
