Softball Lands Three on 2011 UAA All-Tournament Team
UAA ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
St. Louis, Mo., March 24, 2011 – The Washington University in St. Louis softball team had three student-athletes named to the 2011 University Athletic Association (UAA) All-Tournament Team, as announced by the Association on Thursday.
Junior outfielder Alyssa Abramoski, freshman outfielder Maggie Mullen and senior infielder/pitcher Claire Voris each were named to the 12-person team. Emory’s Bridget Holloway and Jessica Thomas were each named Tournament Co-Most Valuable Player honors.
Washington University finished in second place at the 2011 conference championship tournament with a 6-2 record. No. 1 ranked Emory posted a perfect 8-0 mark to win its second-straight league title.
Abramoski batted .500 (12-24) with three doubles, three home runs and nine RBIs in the eight-game tournament. She had four multi-hit games for the Bears, including a 2-for-4 performance with two home runs and three RBIs against the University of Rochester on March 11. Abramoski was second in the tournament in total bases (24) and third in home runs (three), runs scored (10) and hits (12).
Mullen led the tournament in hitting (.619) as a freshman with 13 hits in 21 at-bats with eight runs scored. She hit safely in seven of eight games played, including going 4-for-4 against Rochester on March 11 and 3-for-3 with three runs scored against Case Western Reserve University on March 12.
Voris batted .375 (9-24) with two home runs and eight RBIs and hit safely in five of eight games played. She went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs against Case Western Reserve on March 12 and 3-for-3 against No. 10 Emory University on March 13. Voris also posted a 1-0 record with a 4.88 earned run average in 14 1/3 innings pitched.
