Bears Drop 5-4 Decision to No. 3 Williams in NCAA Third-Place Match

Cary, N.C., May 23, 2012 – No. 15 ranked Washington University in St. Louis dropped a 5-4 decision to No. 3 ranked Williams College in the third-place match of the 2012 NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Championship on Wednesday morning at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.
Washington University concludes the 2011-12 season with an 18-8 overall record, and made its fifth-straight Final Four appearance.

• Freshman Parker Chang collected his 30th overall win of the season following his doubles victory with Farah.
• Washington U. posted a 5-0 victory over Williams a year ago in the third-place match in Claremont, Calif.

Junior Adam Putterman and freshman Ross Putterman will compete in the NCAA Division III Singles and Doubles Championships on Thursday-Saturday, May 24-26. Adam Putterman will represent Washington U. in the 32-player singles tournament, while the Puttermans will compete in the 16-team doubles bracket.
Adam Putterman will take on Austin Chafetz of Amherst College in his opening round singles match on Thursday at 8 a.m. (ET), while the Puttermans face Nick Ballou and Ray Worley of California Lutheran University in the first-round doubles match Thursday at 3 p.m. (ET).
