Washington University Men’s Tennis Lands Three on All-UAA Team

St. Louis, Mo., April 26, 2010 – The No. 6 ranked Washington University in St. Louis men’s tennis team had three student-athletes named to the 2011 All-University Athletic Association (UAA) team, as announced today by the league office.

Washington U. (15-5, 2-1 UAA) fell to No. 2 ranked Emory University, 5-0, in the UAA Championship match on April 17 in Waltham, Mass. The Bears close out regular season play on Saturday, May 7, at No. 19 DePauw University. Doubles play is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. (ET) in Greencastle, Ind.

Sophomores Gary Parizher and Bryan Haywood highlighted the honorees by being named first-team all-UAA at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

Parizher, who earned first-team all-UAA honors at No. 6 singles a year ago, registered a 2-0 mark in singles at the UAA Championship. He has won seven-straight matches and is 16-8 in his sophomore season. Haywood is 12-6 in singles this year, and won his only match of the championship against Case Western Reserve University in the quarterfinals.

Parizher and sophomore Adam Putterman picked up second-team all-UAA accolades at No. 3 doubles, posting a 2-1 record. The duo has a 5-6 overall record in doubles play this season.
