Putterman Advances to Semifinals of USTA/ITA Singles Championship
St. Louis, Mo., October 13, 2011 – Washington University in St. Louis junior Adam Putterman advanced to the semifinals of the 2011 USTA/ITA Division III Men’s Tennis Singles Championship with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over No. 3 seed Joey Tritz of Amherst College on Thursday afternoon at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala.
Putterman takes on the winner of Yevgeny Perepelov of Hunter College and No. 2 seed Alex Lane of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College on Friday at 8:30 a.m. on Court 45. The winner advances to the national championship match on Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
The USTA/ITA National Small College Championships are comprised of the eight regional champions (and/or at-large selections) from NCAA Divisions II and III, NAIA and Junior/Community Colleges. Putterman is the third student-athlete in head coach Roger Follmer’s 11 seasons to make an appearance at the Small College National Championship.
Putterman is 10-0 this season in singles and 44-18 for his three-year career.
