Washington U.'s Jonathan Jebson and Brian Wright Named to Academic All-District First Team
St. Louis, Mo., November 2, 2012 – Washington University in St. Louis junior goalkeeper Jonathan Jebson and senior back Brian Wright were each selected to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District Five Men’s Soccer First Team, as announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Jebson, who holds a 3.39 GPA in marketing and international business, has recorded a 10-4-1 record while starting all 15 matches in goal for the Bears this season. He has allowed just nine goals in more than 1,300 minutes for a goals against average of 0.62. Jebson has also posted seven shutouts in 2012. He leads the University Athletic Association (UAA) in goals against average (0.62), save percentage (.850), and shutouts (seven).
Wright, who has a 3.67 GPA in biology, has also started all 15 matches for Washington U. in 2012. He was also a Capital One Academic All-District First-Team honoree in 2011. This season, Wright assisted on the Bears’ game-winning goal against Birmingham-Southern College in the season opener on Aug. 31. In his career, Wright has played in 73 matches and made 51 starts, including the past 44-consecutive matches.
In order to be selected to the Academic All-District team, a student-athlete must possess at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA and be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing. As First-Team Academic All-District team members, Jebson and Wright will be among the nominees for the Academic All-America Team, which will be announced Tuesday, Nov. 27.
