Jebson Makes Eight Saves in 0-0 Double OT Draw at No. 7 Loras

Dubuque, Iowa, October 23, 2011 — Sophomore goalkeeper Jonathan Jebson made eight saves en route to his seventh shutout of the season as the No. 8 ranked Washington University in St. Louis men’s soccer team posted a 0-0 double overtime draw at No. 7 Loras College on Sunday afternoon at the Rock Bowl in Dubuque, Iowa.
The eight saves for Jebson is the second most in his career, and he lowered his goals against average to 0.52 in the tie. Washington U. outshot Loras 17-15 and had a 10-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Loras outshot Washington U. 6-5 in the opening 45 minutes of play, and Jebson made three saves in first half for the Bears.
With the game tied with under five to play, sophomore Jeremy Kirkwood was taken down in the box resulting in a penalty kick for Washington U. Senior Pat McClean took the PK for the Bears, but his left-footed shot was stopped by Loras goalkeeper Nate DuBois to keep the score knotted at 0-0.
Washington U. did not put a shot on goal in either overtime period, while Jebson made two saves to keep the game tied at 0-0.
Washington University (13-1-1, 4-0 UAA) jumps back into University Athletic Association (UAA) play at home against the University of Rochester on Friday, Oct. 28. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. in St. Louis, Mo.
Bear Notebook: This was a rematch of last year’s second round NCAA matchup between the two teams that ended in a 1-1 tie with Loras advancing on penalty kicks … Washington U. is ranked No. 1 in the Central Region while Loras is No. 1 in the North Region … The Bears have missed their last five penalty kicks dating back to last season against Loras … Washington U. is 27-2-6 the past two seasons, who two of those ties coming against Loras.
