Washington U. Men’s Basketball Announces 2012-13 Schedule
St. Louis, Mo., September 9, 2012 – Three trips to the Chicago land area and the 29th Annual Lopata Classic highlight the 2012-13 Washington University in St. Louis men’s basketball schedule, as announced Sunday by head coach Mark Edwards.
Washington U. opens the season at the University of Chicago on Nov. 17-18 by playing Trinity University (Texas) and Southwestern University. The Bears return to Chicago on Dec. 8 to play at Wheaton College and again on Jan. 5 to open the University Athletic Association (UAA) against Chicago.
“We are excited about another very competitive NCAA Division III schedule which is highlighted by three trips to the Chicago area,” said Edwards, who begins his 32nd season on the Danforth Campus with a 562-258 (.686) overall record. “The defense of our UAA title will be especially challenging this year with all the conference teams being especially strong.”
The Bears will also travel to the Nebraska Wesleyan Thanksgiving Classic on Nov. 23-24, Webster University on Dec. 5 and MacMurray College on Dec. 20 for non-conference games.
Washington University will also play 14 games in the competitive UAA having a home-and-home series with each of the seven teams. Washington U. won a conference-best 11th UAA title a year ago.
Washington University finished the 2011-12 season with a 20-7 overall mark and made an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. All 12 home games will be broadcast live on the Bear Sports Network at: http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/wustl.portal.
