Washington U. Men’s Basketball Announces Class of 2016
St. Louis, Mo., June 6, 2012 – Washington University in St. Louis men’s basketball coach Mark Edwards announced that five student-athletes will join the Bears’ program as freshmen for the 2012-13 season.
The five players hail from four different states: Tom Garvin, Hinsdale, Ill. (Hinsdale Central) (6-5, 200, forward), Eli Morris, Tiburon, Calif. (Branson) (6-4, 195, forward), Alex Oserowsky, Joplin, Mo. (Thomas Jefferson) (6-3, 185, guard), Luke Silverman-Lloyd, Culver City, Calif. (Windward) (6-2, 180, guard) and Brandon Staffeil, DeForest, Wis. (DeForest) (6-5, 210, forward).
“We are excited about our incoming freshman class. Each one has had a great high school career and is ready to move to the next level,” said Edwards, who has a 562-258 (.685) overall record in 31 seasons on the Danforth Campus. “They are all strong competitors and I anticipate that some of them will make an immediate impact on the program.”
Washington University, the 2008 and 2009 NCAA Division III national champions, finished the 2011-12 season with a 20-7 overall mark, and won the 2012 University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship and made an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
