Dylan Richter Headed to NABC Reese's Division III All-Star Game
St. Louis, Mo., March 7, 2012 – Washington University in St. Louis senior guard Dylan Richter and St. Lawrence senior guard Ralph Temgoua won the 2012 NABC Reese's Division III All-Star Game fan voting and will represent their teams in Salem, Va.
“I can’t even begin to thank everyone for all the help and support I received for this. It honestly blows my mind,” said Richter. “While I’m excited about this opportunity, the help I’ve received to make it happen from Washington University, friends at schools all over the country and countless others means so, so much more. All I can do is say thank you.”
Richter and Temgoua finished atop a vote that saw more than 37,000 ballots cast exclusively on D3hoops.com, more than doubling the total of last year's fan vote. Richter totaled 8,337 votes in a span of 48 hours, which was 22 percent of the votes cast. Temgoua had 7,913 votes to finish in second place.
Richter averaged a team-best 16.4 points per game and was named the 2012 University Athletic Association (UAA) Player of the Year. He finished his career ranked sixth in school history in three-pointers made (152) and 19th on the all-time scoring list (1,112). Richter led the Bears to a 20-7 overall mark in 2011-12, and helped guide the team to the 2012 UAA Championship and an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The All-Star Game, now in its third season, takes place before the Division III men's basketball championship game. The pair will join the top two seniors in each region, as selected by an NABC panel, as well as the top senior from each team that falls in the national semifinals, in the 2012 game.
Richter is the second Washington U. student-athlete to participate in the NABC Reese’s Division III All-Star Game. Two-time All-American point guard Sean Wallis scored 13 points and dished out seven assists in the inaugural game in 2010.
