Richter Earns All-America Honors by D3hoops.com and DIII News

St. Louis, Mo., March 19, 2012 — Washington University in St. Louis senior guard Dylan Richter was named to the 15th Annual D3hoops.com and the Schelde North America/DIII News Men’s Basketball All-America Team, as announced on Monday.
Richter was an honorable-mention selection by D3hoops.com and a fourth-team honoree by DIII News. He is the 17th men’s basketball student-athlete in school history to earn All-America honors.
“Dylan had a great career at Washington University. To see him being recognized for his accomplishments this year is really special,” said head coach Mark Edwards. “Dylan’s leadership and unselfish play was a big part of our success this season. Being named an All-American is well deserved.”
Richter, a first-team D3hoops.com and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) all-Midwest Region selection, started all 27 games and was fifth in the conference averaging 16.4 points per game. The 2012 University Athletic Association (UAA) Player of the Year also led the team and the conference with 75 three-pointers made.
Richter scored 20 points on Feb. 3, at Rochester, becoming the 20th member of the 1,000-point club. He dropped in a career-best 33 points on nine three-pointers in a 99-88 win over No. 4 ranked Emory University on Jan. 29. Richter appeared in 102 career games and finished his career ranked sixth in school history in three-pointers made (152) and 19th on the all-time scoring list (1,112). He competed in the 2012 NABC Reese's Division III All-Star Game on March 17 in Salem, Va.
Washington University finished the 2011-12 season with a 20-7 overall mark, and won the 2012 UAA Championship and made an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
