Alan Aboona Selected to D3hoops.com Team of the Week

St. Louis, Mo., January 16, 2013 – Washington University in St. Louis junior guard Alan Aboona was selected to the D3hoops.com Men’s Basketball Team of the Week, as announced by the website.
Aboona, who also earned the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week Monday, scored a career-high 35 points and set a conference single-game record with 10 three-pointers in the Bears’ 86-84 victory at Emory University Friday in Atlanta. He hit his first nine three-pointers of the game and finished 10-of-11 from beyond the arc. Aboona’s nine threes in a row also broke the Washington U. record for consecutive three-pointers of seven set by Gene Nolan during the 1993-94 season.
For the week, Aboona averaged 23 points, four assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game as Washington U. posted a 1-1 record on the road. He shot 57.1 percent (16-28) from the field in the two games, and hit 13-of-21 (61.9 percent) from three-point range.
Aboona is averaging 13.1 points, 5.5 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game in 2012-13. He ranks second in the UAA in assists (5.5), free-throw percentage (.921), third in three-point field goals made (2.5), fourth in steals (1.6) and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.0) and eighth in three-point field goal percentage (.412). Aboona’s 92.1 free-throw percentage (35-38) clip also ranks second in NCAA Division III.
