Chalifour and Sherman Named UAA Athlete of the Week

Washington University in St. Louis sophomore kicker Eric Chalifour and senior quarterback Stephen Sherman earned University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week honors, as announced by the Association. Chalifour was named the Special Teams AOW, while Sherman earned the offensive honor.

Sherman threw for a career-high 229 yards and two touchdowns in Washington University’s 36-6 win over Westminster College on Sept. 25. He also ran the ball seven times for 38 yards as he gained 267 yards of total offense. Sherman tossed a pair of touchdowns (18 yards, 24 yards) in the third quarter as Washington University built a commanding 26-6 lead.

Chalifour tied a school record with three field goals made in the victory over Westminster. He connected on kicks of 27, 33 and 26 yards out in the victory, and was also 3-of-4 in extra points. Through four games played, Chalifour leads the UAA connecting on 6-of-9 field goals and is second in points (27). He also ranks 11th in Division III in field goals made per game (1.5).

Following a bye week, Washington University (2-2) will host No. 20 ranked Wabash College on Saturday, Oct. 9, at 1 p.m.
