Washington University Football Opens Camp on Saturday
St. Louis, Mo., August 9, 2012 – Washington University in St. Louis is scheduled to begin its 116th season of college football when the Bears begin fall camp on Saturday, August 11, at Francis Field.
102 student-athletes arrived on campus on Thursday, and Washington U. will have its first official team meal on Thursday night. On Friday morning, student-athletes will be fitted for gear and take head shot photos, followed by physicals and a series of meetings in the afternoon. The Bears will step onto the field for the first time on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
Washington University returns 10 starters (Offense-5; Defense-4; Special Teams-1) and 67 letterwinners from the 2011 squad, which finished the season with a 6-4 overall record. The Bears finished University Athletic Association (UAA) play with a 2-1 record, good for second place.
Washington University opens the 2012 schedule at home against three-time defending NCAA Division III national champion and No. 1-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Friday, Aug. 31, at 8:30 p.m. The game will be streamed live on Bears TV at: http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/wustl.portal#.
