Football Lands Five on Capital One Academic All-District Team
St. Louis, Mo., November 14, 2011 – The Washington University in St. Louis football had five student-athletes earn 2011 Capital One First-Team Academic All-District Five honors, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Junior running back Chris Castelluccio, senior linebacker Kyle Larkin, sophomore defensive back Scott O’Brien, senior offensive lineman Joe Rhein and senior defensive lineman Daniel Sufranski each earned the accolade.
Castelluccio (3.61, finance and international business), Larkin (3.65, economics and marketing), O’Brien (3.50, biology), Rhein (3.64, mechanical engineering and German) and Sufranski (3.79, political science and economics) will be eligible to be selected to the Academic All-America Team, which will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 6.
In order to be selected to an academic all-district team, a student-athlete must demonstrate success on the playing field and in the classroom, with academic and athletic achievements taken into consideration. The student-athlete must possess a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade point average and be at least a sophomore in academic standing.
